Edward Parker
Here’s to Mr. Edward, the toughest little dog ever. Whether it was conquering cancer, hiking to the top of mountains or just defending the house from guests, Ed was never the dog to back down. In his 14 years, Ed succeeded in gaining the respect that dogs his size rarely achieved. Although tough, Edward was also a lover. Cuddling was one of his favorite things to do, be it on the couch or snuggling in bed as bedtime arrived. Even though Edward was returned several times to the shelter he was adopted from, he fit right in with us. Known as “Crack Head Ed” in his early years in New Mexico, he routinely put our Doberman in her place, I’m pretty sure she feared him more than anyone and anything. After thoroughly terrorizing New Mexico, Ed’s next stop was Kansas where he fit right in with our college crowd, he was always the pup’ of the party. We frequently heard “Where’s Mr. Edward?” from our friends and guests as his reputation always preceded him. After undergrad, Ed moved on to the mountains of Colorado and quickly took a liking to the many hiking trails offered here. Always wanting to be a part of the action, Ed was always willing to hitch a ride in my backpack if the terrain became too much for him. Creating memories wherever he went, I have to say our time in Loveland was some of my favorite. I’ll always remember Ed chasing me home at the end of every walk. He couldn’t quite keep up with me, but it sure sounded like he was right on my heels as he barked and announced to the whole complex, he was on his way home. He will always have a special place in our hearts as he has been a wonderful part of our relationship from its very start. Edward, we miss you and thank you for 14 fantastic years of love, loyalty and memories, you have taught us so much. Goodbye, little dude, you are forever in our hearts.
